     Structure and Dynamics of Large Scale Networks (Internet, WWW)

The project is supported by the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT) within the “Research Staff Support Program” PENED-2003. It spans three key areas of a large scale cooperative environment e.g. the global Internet, the WWW or a vast wireless network: a) stability under various types of attacks, b) immunization and security against such attacks, c) query optimization for data acquisition. The aspired target is to decide on the optimal structure of a large scale “network” that fulfills the above objectives. Theoretical tools from statistical physics, probability theory and graph theory are used extensively, while computer simulations are performed on data gathered from real environments.
